The kids in Poland have spend their summers traveling, playing outside and perfecting their favorite sports. On the district’s first day of school Tuesday, that same excitement is now being harnessed in the classroom.
Union kindergartner Sydney Henderson traveled to Hilton Head, S.C., with her family this summer, but spent plenty of time learning as well.
“I did lots of summer reading at the library and I want to learn more in Mrs. [Gina] Chiaro’s class,” Henderson shared.
Michael Cougras, who will rule the school as a Union fourth-grader, attended an Indians game this summer where he walked on the field and met with the athletes.
“I like sports a lot, and I’m excited to work on my dribbling tricks for the fourth-grade talent show,” Cougras said. Over at Dobbins, transfer students Alayna Soltis, Brody Todd and Tyler Thomas were introduced to their new school for the first time. The new students recently moved from Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, respectively, and hope to get involved in sports to meet new friends.
“I’d like to get involved in hockey,” Thomas said.
“I want to play every sport. I’ll be heading across the street to football games, too. I’m a Poland Bulldog now,” shared Todd.
