Classes to begin

NEW WATERFORD

Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will resume Wednesday evening classes for children, teens and adults next week.

Sessions, which will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will run through Dec. 7.

Offered will be “Understanding God” taught by Pastor Mark Plegge and his wife, Cathy; open Bible study with some topical sessions including ALF 101, “With One Heart” taught by Senior Pastor Jeff Schoch; teen class taught by Josh Graham; and Kids for Christ, which includes Bible lessons, activities and recreation for children 5 to 12, led by Judy Daubenmire and Eric Wrikeman. Child care for younger children will be provided.

Park Vista programs

Park Vista Retirement Community will present a series, “Building Bridges to Understanding,” to foster understanding of various religions. There will be morning and afternoon sessions, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a break for lunch.

Programs planned are:

Thursday: “The Four Principles of Buddhism” by Ricki (Richarda) Bisson in the morning and “History of the Byzantine Rite of the Catholic Church” with the Rev. Richard Whetstone in the afternoon.

Sept. 26: Morning, “The Basic Principles of the Bah °’ Faith” with Mrs. Gim Oh and “The Bah °’ Perspective on Health and Healing” with Dr. Kong Oh. Reservations requested by Sept. 19.

Sept. 29: Morning, “Tracing the Roots of the Orthodox Church” with the Rev. Thomas Constantine and afternoon, “Faith in a New Way: Say “Hello” to the Emerging Church” with the Rev. Dr. John D. Sharick. Reservations due by Sept. 22.

New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts Wick Road, will host a Gospel hymn sing Sept. 17. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m and the music at 7.

The Gospel Echoes will be in concert at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road, at 6 p.m. Sunday. A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be taken.

Simulcast Sunday

North-Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St., will broadcast a worldwide simulcast, “A Wake-up Call for God’s People,” at 7 p.m. Sunday. The free simulcast on the 10th anniversry of Sept. 11 will include teaching messages from Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of evangelist Billy Graham; Joel Rosenberg, New York Times best-selling author; and worship led by Dove-award winner, Selah.

Rally Day

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will begin the new church school year on Rally Day this Sunday.

“Rodeo Roundup” will begin at 9:15 a.m. with a light “chuck wagon” breakfast. Children’s activities will be pony rides, balloon animals, face painting, fish pond and singing. All children will get a cowboy hat.

For adults, there will be blood-pressure and glucose screenings.

Worship will be at 10:30 followed by a potluck lunch. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a casserole or dessert to share. Activities will resume after lunch. Wear jeans and western shirts.

Dahntai Productions will present Robyn Dobie Allen and Worship in a live recording concert at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Rock of Grace Ministries, 6745 state Route 5.

Special Mass

Students, staff, and family members of St. Patrick School will attend a special Mass at 8:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St., to remember and honor all of those affected by the 9/11 tragedy. The Mass will be led by the school’s eighth-grade class, and the student choir will lead singing. Sixth- through eighth-graders will sit with younger buddies. The buddy system is a program in which older students become the “buddy” of a student in kindergarten through third grade.

Classes and dinner

Beginning next week, Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., will offer dinner and classes on Thursday nights until Thanksgiving. The meal will be at 5:45 with a free-will offering to cover costs. The free classes will be from 6:30 to 7:30. Classes are: “Our Faith Language: A Bible Perspective” a Bible study taught by Rev. Jim Schimmel; a discussion class “The U.S. Constitution, What Does It Say? How Does it Affect You Today” facilitated by Jim Tallman; discussion of the book “Conversations With God” led by Michael Gianoutsos: and a book discussion of William Young’s “The Shack” led by Pastor Steve Brown. Participants may attend any or all sessions. Reservations are requested by the Tuesday before so meals may be planned accordingly. Vegetarian meals are an option. New Life Ministries

The Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an inter-denominational ministry, will meet Sept. 19 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park. Guest speaker will be Rabbi Arthur Goldberg, who was raised in an Orthodox Jewish home. In his early teens, he began using drugs. He will present a testimony of healing. The ministry will begin with fellowship at 6 p.m. and the program at 6:30.

Clergy caucus

ACTION will sponsor a clergy caucus from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 5235 South Ave., with the Rev. Joseph Fata, host pastor. Keynote speaker will be the Rev. David Bigsby, president of Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus, and senior pastor of Upper Room Ministries Church in Chicago.
