9th-grader slashed in neck at student assembly

COLUMBUS
Authorities say a 14-year-old Ohio boy has been hospitalized after another student knifed him in the neck during a 9th-grade assembly at their high school.
Columbus police Sgt. Christine Nemchev says another 14-year-old was sitting behind the teen Thursday morning at West High School and cut him in an unprovoked attack. She says the alleged assailant has been arrested and will be arraigned today in juvenile court on charges of felonious assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Nemchev says the victim was in stable condition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. His name was not released. Columbus school district spokeswoman Jacqueline Bryant says the school was locked down after the attack.
