No medical outbreak at VXI in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — The rumors are flying around VXI Global Solutions about a medical outbreak among its employees, but they’re not true, said the city health department’s nursing director.

The city and Mahoning County health departments are investigating, and it appears the health issue at the company’s downtown office is two employees with potential staph infections, said Melissa Novits, the nursing director.

“Nothing is confirmed,” she said.

There are likely two people in any decent-sized business with staphs, Novits said.

“It’s a whole bunch of nonsense right now,” she said.

The city health department has received calls Wednesday and today from about 50 VXI workers about various health scares at the call center, Novits said. VXI is located on the fourth and fifth floors of 20 Federal Place at 20 W. Federal St.
