Speaker to discuss shared services for local entities

Randy Cole, an advocate for more shared services among local governments and school districts, will be the featured speaker at a meeting to discuss that topic at 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Liberty Township Administrative Building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

The meeting is being organized by the Mahoning and Trumbull Local Government Roundtables.

All Mahoning Valley elected officials are invited to attend.

Cole is the president of the Ohio Controlling Board and a policy adviser at the Ohio Bureau of Management and Budget.

He also oversees the state’s Local Government Innovation Fund.

The $45 million fund is designed to stimulate collaboration among political jurisdictions.

The two county’s government roundtables consist of elected officials and government agency leaders that meet monthly to discuss ways to share information and services, and consider possibilities to make local government more efficient and effective.
