Second Harvest participates in Hunger Action Month

YOUNGSTOWN — Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is part of a national movement to raise awareness and take action to help the 50 million Americans who experience hunger.

September is Hunger Action Month. Throughout the month, Feeding America’s nationwide network of more than 200 food banks, including Second Harvest, is working to engage citizens to take action and help spread the word about the pervasiveness of hunger in every community.

Second Harvest, located at 2805 Salt Springs Road, distributes food to 153 hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Individuals, companies, schools, civic and faith-based organizations can all help end hunger in our community by organizing a food drive, volunteering or making a financial contribution to the food bank.

Each week, the food bank fills more than 13,000 requests for emergency food assistance in our community.
