White Sox 3, Twins 0

MINNEAPOLIS

Jake Peavy struck out a season-high nine and Alex Rios homered to lead the Chicago. Peavy (7-7) allowed four hits and walked two in 6 1-3 innings against a Twins team that had three players who were called up from Double-A in the last two days. Alejandro De Aza had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, and Sergio Santos picked up his 29th save for the White Sox, who have won three in a row and eight of 12. Liam Hendriks (0-1) allowed three runs and four hits over seven innings in his major league debut. Chris Parmelee had two hits in his first game as a pro, but the Twins lost for the 14th time in 17 games.

Rangers 8, Rays 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.

C.J. Wilson threw a five-hitter, David Murphy drove in four runs and AL West-leading Texas beat Tampa Bay. Wilson (15-6) matched his career high in wins from last year and became the first Texas left-hander to record 15 or more wins in consecutive seasons. He has three complete games this year. Murphy and Ian Kinsler homered for the Rangers, who are 3-2 on a six-game trip to Boston and Tampa Bay. Adrian Beltre extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a third-inning single. Tampa Bay right-hander Jeff Niemann (9-7) gave up seven runs and nine hits in 42/3 innings. He has lost three of his last four starts.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Dodgers 7, Nationals 3

WASHINGTON

Stephen Strasburg allowed two hits over five shutout innings in his first major league start since undergoing Tommy John surgery, but the bullpen blew the lead. The 2009 overall No. 1 draft pick again displayed the repertoire that wowed the baseball world last year during a rookie season cut short when his elbow popped in a game at Philadelphia on Aug. 21. His long road back began when he had ligament replacement surgery last Sept. 3. Strasburg threw 56 pitches, 40 for strikes. He struck out four. The Nationals led 3-0 when he left, but the Dodgers took the lead for good on Rod Barajas’ two-run double in the eighth inning off Henry Rodriguez (3-3). Kelly Jansen (2-1) got the win.

Cardinals 4, Brewers 2

ST. LOUIS

Kyle Lohse threw six scoreless innings on eight days’ rest and the Cardinals got home runs from Jon Jay and Matt Holliday in the third inning. Lohse (13-8), who leads the Cardinals in victories, gave up four hits, struck out six and walked three. He was pushed back two days behind Chris Carpenter and Jake Westbrook after giving up four runs in five innings in a win against Pittsburgh in his last start. Milwaukee’s Yovanni Gallardo (15-10) gave up three runs in six innings, and has allowed six home runs in 10 2-3 innings over his last two starts, both losses to the Cardinals. He gave up only three his previous seven starts combined.

Rockies 8, Diamondbacks 3

DENVER

Troy Tulowitzki homered, Seth Smith tripled twice and the Colorado Rockies rallied to beat the streaking Arizona Diamondbacks. Jordan Pacheco and Carlos Gonzalez had two hits each for Colorado, which beat Arizona for just the fifth time in 17 games. Aaron Hill and Justin Upton had two hits each for the Diamondbacks, who had won 12 of their last 13.
