Medical records at Humility of Mary Health Partners officially have entered the digital era.

On Sunday the facility implemented CarePATH, the Mahoning Valley’s first fully integrated electronic health- record system. It connects patients’ medical information to all areas of the health-care process.

The $56 million investment is part of a government-led digitization of medical records, a process thought to shave billions of dollars in medical costs. Medical facilities need to have records in digital format by 2014.

HMHP implemented CarePATH for its clinics and physician offices last November.

CarePATH now is in use at HMHP’s St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, St. Elizabeth in Boardman, Emergency and Diagnostic Centers in Austintown and Andover, at two Urgent Care Centers in Trumbull County and at more than 40 out- patient areas such as Diagnostic Centers, Cancer Care Centers and HMHP Laboratories.
