FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Southington United Methodist Church, state Routes 305 and 534, will serve chicken dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today. The meal includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, homemade desserts and beverage. Cost for adults is $7.50. A children’s meal with chicken tenders is $4 for children ages 4 through 10, and free for those 3 and younger. Carryouts will be available; call 330-898-2156 to order.

THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. ext., North Lima, will have a drive-through homemade chicken dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out). Dinners include baked chicken breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $6. Drive up to the door and a volunteer will take the meal to your car. VFW Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will be the setting for a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, Italian bread, and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12; and $6.25 for carryouts.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi, while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church will have its Taste of the Lakes fish fry fundraiser, featuring crappie, walleye and Canadian pike from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The meal also will include fries or macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, pie and beverage. Costs are $8 for adults in advance, $8.75 at the door; $3.95 for kids 6 to 12, and free for kids under 6. St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling 330-746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $4.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

SATURDAY

Fowler United Methodist Church, 4326 state Route 193 at state Route 305 will have a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The meal also will include potato, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, dessert and beverage. Old Springfield United Church of Christ, 11957 state Route 170, one mile south of New Middletown, will have its annual barbecue chicken dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner also will include dessert and beverage. Costs are $8 for adults; $3.50 for children 6 to 12; and free for children 5 and younger, and can be paid at the door.

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown, serves an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast the second Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The meals also include sausage, and juice, coffee or tea. Cost is $5.

Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department will have a steak fry from 3 to 8 p.m. at Wheatland American Legion hall, corner of Broadway and Council avenues. The “cook your own” dinner will feature a 24-ounce steak with fixings, dessert and beer or nonalcoholic beverages for a cost of $20. The event also will include 50-50 raffles, tear-off tickets and a basket auction. Tickets should be purchased in advance because the number of tickets sold will be used to determine the number of steaks that will be on hand for the event. SUNDAY

Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, adjacent to Mill Creek Park’s Fellows Riverside Gardens, will have its all-you-can-eat pasta buffet from 11:45 a.m. until the food runs out in Colonial Hall. The meal includes pasta and meatballs, salad, rolls, beverage and dessert. Cost is $5.95 per person; children 5 and younger are free. Carryouts will be available. Call 330-792-7462 to order. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children. All carryouts are $7; containers are 75 cents or you can provide your own.
