Spirituality Day

The Benedictine Sisters of the Byzantine Church at Queen of Heaven Monastery will offer a day of spirituality from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Center, 180 Belvedere Ave. N.E.
The presenter will be Sister Ruth Plante of Mount St. Macrina Monastery in Uniontown, Pa. Her topic will be “Take Nothing for the Journey…” (Luke 9).
Sister Ruth is a nun of St. Basil the Great from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Province in Uniontown. She holds degrees in education and Eastern Christian studies. Her ministries include working many years as teacher and principal, assisting in pastoral ministry, and serving in provincial administration as provincial and counselor. Sister Ruth is the director of the religious gift shop at Mount St. Macrina and also serves as a provincial counselor.
There will be time for reflection, questions, refreshments and an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. Participants may pray vespers with the sisters.

Classes to begin
NEW WATERFORD
Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will resume Wednesday evening classes for children, teens and adults on Sept 14. Sessions will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Offered will be “Understanding God” taught by Pastor Mark Plegge and his wife, Cathy; open Bible study with some topical sessions including ALF 101, “With One Heart” taught by Senior Pastor Jeff Schoch; teen class taught by Josh Graham; and Kids for Christ, which includes Bible lessons, activities and recreation for children 5 to 12, led by Judy Daubenmire and Eric Wrikeman.
Child care for younger children will be provided.
Classes run through Dec. 7.

The Keelings, a Southern Gospel group, will perform at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. A free-will offering will be taken.
Beth Moore program

New Life Baptist Church, 3414 state Route 208, will sponsor a “Living Proof Live” simulcast with Beth Moore and worship leader Travis Cottrell from 10:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Sept. 10.
Moore, who applies Biblical scripture to daily life, has written “David: Seeking a Heart Like His,” “Breaking Free” and “Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman.”

New pastor

The Rev. Kristin Stroble, new pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, will preach at the 10 a.m. service Sunday.
She will be ordained at 3 p.m. Sept. 25 at United Presybterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls, her home church, and be installed at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Heritage.
The Rev. Ms. Stroble earned a bachelor of music education degree from the College of Wooster in 2007 and a master of divinity in 2011 from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga.
While attending college and seminary, Ms. Stroble did internships as a chaplain and clinical pastor, choir and handbell director, interim camp director and program assistant, young adult volunteer in the Philippines and mobile health fair worker.
At Columbia, she served on the board of trustees, Student Coordinating Council and worship and convocations faculty committee. At the College of Wooster, she was involved in Interfaith Campus Ministries.
Prayer service

Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown, and the Rev. Michael Swierz, president of St. Joseph the Provider Catholic School, will lead a prayer service at 9 a.m. Tuesday at its new location, the former school building of St. Anthony Parish at 1125 Turin Ave. The event is open to the public.
The service will mark the first day of school there. The school was formerly located at St. Joseph the Provider Parish in Campbell.
Also participating will be Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin, vicar general of the diocese; Dr. Nicholas Wolsonovich, acting sperintendent of Catholic Schools; and Charles Sammarone, mayor of Youngstown.

Contemporary Christian artist Kathleen Carnali will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46.
Carnali is touring the country promoting her fourth CD “Be Still and Know.” The concert is free and open to the public.
