Police: Suspect kills 5 in W.Va., then kills self

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities say a man killed five people at a home in West Virginia and later killed himself during a police chase in Kentucky.

Capt. James Merrill with West Virginia State Police said today that the victims were Charles Richardson III; his wife, 49-year-old Karen Richardson; her children, 17-year-old Kevin Hudson and 22-year-old Katrina Hudson; and 30-year-old Robert Raber.

Merrill says police believe all were shot with a high-powered rifle. Their bodies were found Monday at the Richardsons' home.

Hours after the killings, the suspect, 22-year-old Shayne Riggleman, shot and wounded an attendant at a gas station off Interstate 79. He then killed himself during a police chase in Lewis County, Ky.

Charles Richardson Jr. says he did not know of any connection between his son and the suspect.
