Scrappers take advantage of Jammers’ ‘Wild Thing’

The Mahoniong Valley Scrappers scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and eighth innings in Saturday’s 6-2 victory over the Jamestown Jammers.
Weather-permitting, the Scrappers and Jammers will conclude the New York-Penn League regular season this afternoon.
The Scrappers took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning thanks to two wild pitches by the Jammers’ Jose Rodriguez with runners at third base. Tony Wolters and Jordan Smith came home on the wild tosses. Evan Frazier homered in the fifth inning and Todd Hankins scored on Alex Lavinsky’s double.
Lavinsky also doubled and then scored on a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning. John Barr scored the Scrappers’ other run on Frazar’s single.
Rob Nixon (7-3) pitched five innings to earn the victory. He allowed both Jammers’ runs and just three hits.
Rodriguez (0-1) suffered the loss.
