Promoted to sergeant
Trooper Jason G. Bonar of Trumbull County was promoted to the rank of sergeant recently during a ceremony at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Academy.
Bonar will transfer from his assignment at the Warren Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Ashtabula Post.
He began his career in September 2000 as a member of the 136th academy class. He earned his commission in March 2001 and was assigned to the Ashtabula Post, where he was selected as post Trooper of the Year from 2003 through 2005. While at the Ashtabula Post, he earned the ACE Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 2005, and the Criminal Patrol Award in 2004 and 2005.
In 2006, he transferred to the Warren Post, where he earned the Criminal Patrol Award in 2006, 2007 and 2010. In October 2010, he received the Trooper Recognition Award for rescuing a woman from an attempted rape while off duty.
Bonar lives in Vienna with his wife, Aimee, and their three children, Jorja, 7; Grayson, 4; and infant Gabriel.
