Janet DeCesare of Mineral Ridge will have a book-signing event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mocha House Caf , 467 High St. NE, Warren; will give talks next Sunday and Sept. 12 starting at 11 a.m. at the Wayne County Fair in Wooster; and will provide a review of her book at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Howland Public Library, old state Route 82, Howland.
Her book, “Ticked Off,” details DeCesare’s 12-year struggle with chronic Lyme disease. The memoir wades through the confusion and exposes the truth about the symptoms, effects and cures of the little-known ailment.
The author describes herself before the disease as a strong, hardworking woman raising a family, helping her husband with his business, mowing four acres of yard every week, gardening and holding down a job.
As time wore on, her health deteriorated, as misdiagnoses and the lack of knowledge in the mainstream medical community failed to offer her any help.
