2 Masons to receive 33rd Degree


Ronald E. Gordon of Warren and Mark E. Munroe of Boardman have been elected to receive the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree. The decision was made Aug. 30 at the annual session of the Supreme Council in Chicago, and the honor will be conferred next August in Cleveland.

The degree is awarded for active Masonry service, especially the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, (32nd-Degree Masons) and to those of the Scottish Rite who have been outstanding community leaders and served their fellow men.

Gordon, a past master of Silver Trowel Lodge 776 in Warren, has served the Grand Lodge of Ohio as district deputy grand master. He is a member of York Rite Bodies in Warren. In the Scottish Rite, he is a past sovereign prince of Youngstown Council Princes of Jerusalem, serves in several degrees and is membership chairman.

He retired from General Motors, where he was a materials management analyst. He attends Lordstown Christian Church and lives with his wife, Jeanine.

Munroe, a member of Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield, serves in several degrees and is engineer and seneschal in Mahoning Consistory. He assists the Valley through his television/video production business.

He attended Youngstown State University and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in business administration. He serves on the Mahoning County Board of Elections, and is a member of the Mahoning County Republican Party, Rotary Club of Youngstown and Youngstown United Way.

He is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he has served as president of council. He lives with his wife, Mary Ellen.

James C. Kowacich Jr. of McDonald and Kevin B. Todd of New Waterford received the degree at the Supreme Council session this year.
