Diabetes outing raises another $10,000 for research

The latest edition of the annual American Diabetes Association Golf Benefit organized by Ankle & Foot Care Centers raised another $10,000 to support diabetes research.

Some 128 golfers and more than 60 sponsors raised funds for the 13th edition of the event on Aug. 15, at the Lake Club in Poland.

Since the annual outing began, more than $100,000 has been raised to support research into new treatments and possible cures for diabetic conditions.

“All of our participants and sponsors should feel very proud of what they’ve helped us accomplish,” said Dr. Michelle Anania of Ankle & Foot Care Centers, who leads the organization of the event.

“We need to invest in further research to address this disease as it becomes more prominent in our region.”

Diabetic conditions often manifest themselves in the feet and ankles.

Jill Pupa, executive director for the American Diabetes Association in Cleveland, attended the event to thank Ankle & Foot Care Centers and participants in the outing.
