Family members say a toddler who was dropped from a third-story window is recovering.

The child, 23-month-old Alizae Mosconi, is asking for food, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

The girl suffered multiple broken bones, brain swelling and other injuries on Aug. 25 when a distant relative purportedly dangled the child outside a third-story window to “teach her a lesson” and then dropped her, police say.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh upgraded Alizae’s condition to fair and moved her from the intensive-care unit to a private room. But doctors have not determined when she can go home or whether she’ll suffer permanent damage.

A district judge on Thursday ordered a trial for 27-year-old Terra Jean Hill, of East Liverpool, Ohio, who faces aggravated assault and other charges in the case.
