BOARDMAN

A 19-year-old Canfield man will be in court next week, accused of receiving stolen property.

Boardman police stopped Michael P. Tomko about 12:30 a.m. Friday on U.S. Route 224 near Pheasant Drive after an officer saw the vehicle Tomko was driving swerve out of its lane, according to reports.

Police said when Tomko and his two passengers exited the vehicle, police saw marijuana debris on the floor in the front of the driver’s seat. Officers searched the vehicle and found a brown leather wallet with a health insurance card that did not belong to Tomko and listed the name of a Hunting Valley Drive resident, reports state.

Police called the woman listed on the card, and she said her son’s vehicle had been broken into June 30 and his wallet, containing his license, credit cards and her insurance card, was taken, according to records.

Tomko told police he purchased the wallet from a friend, according to reports.

During the search of the car, police also reported that they found an orange straw and a small silver container on Tomko’s key chain, both with white powder residue.

Tomko is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property. His two passengers are not charged in any crime. Tomko was released on a court summons and will appear in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman on Thursday.
