Trumbull corrections officer sentenced for eavesdropping

A second corrections officer at the Trumbull County Jail has been sentenced to probation for using an intercom system to listen to his supervisors’ conversations.

Robert J. Rihel, 46, of Leavittsburg, was sen- tenced to two years’ probation, and a four-month jail sentenced was suspended. He pleaded guilty earlier to 13 counts of misdemeanor falsification.

Barbara Ruggieri, 45, of Warren, was likewise sentenced to probation earlier after pleading guilty to one count of falsification.

Ruggieri resigned earlier, and Rihel is on unpaid administrative leave.

Timothy J. Billock, 45, of Newton Falls, who is also on upaid administrative leave, is awaiting trial on six counts of interception of wire, oral or electronic communications.
