Shaker Woods gets set for antiques show

Staff report

COLUMBIANA

Antiques in the Woods, a unique antique show, will be Sept. 10 and 11 at the Shaker Woods grounds.

More than 100 of the country’s top antique and collectible dealers will be present, featuring a wide selection of everything from antique furniture to linens, glassware and collector items.

“We’re anticipating a great turnout this year,” said Lana Tipton, promoter of the event. “With the popularity of cable television shows like ‘American Pickers’ and ‘Pawn Stars,’ the interest in antiques and collectibles continues to grow. Plus, with the entertainment and demonstrations, it’s a great way to spend a fall day.”

Entertainment will include country singer Zach Paxson as well as Davis & McKay on both days. The Silver Eagle Band will perform Saturday, and The Del Sinchak Polka Band will perform Sunday.

Live demonstrations from Civil War groups include the 61st OVI Company D and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, plus Wild Buffalo Bill, General Lee and Annie Oakley.

Tractor pullers will be on-site Saturday.

New this year is the Fort Pitt Hi-Railers modular train display, measuring 18 by 28 feet.

On Sunday, a classic-truck and car show is scheduled with trophies awarded in several categories. Admission is free for drivers and one passenger and includes a dash plaque.

Kids Korner will include flower making, nail painting, face painting and the paint-a-pumpkin contest.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 (free for children 12 and under).

No pets or alcoholic beverages are permitted on the grounds. Children’s strollers are not recommended.

Antiques in the Woods is located at 44337 County Line Road near Columbiana, one mile north of the intersection of Route 14.
