Pro, con Issue 2 rallies set for Tuesday

The Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties Democratic Party chairmen are sponsoring a public rally at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahoning Country Club in Girard in opposition to Issue 2.

If approved by voters on Nov. 8, the issue would restrict some collective-bargaining rights for public employees.

The event is open to the public provided each person attending signs up to work an hour at an anti-Issue 2 phone bank or go door-to-door urging people to vote against the issue.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday, a rally in support of Issue 2 will be at the Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton with Gov. John Kasich scheduled to speak. Kasich supports the bill, signing it into law earlier this year.
