The husband of a woman likely to be freed after a plea agreement in a fatal shooting says he plans to drive to Tennessee and return her to Ohio, where she had lived under an alias for 32 years after a prison escape.
Daryl McCartor of Grove City tells The Columbus Dispatch he expects to pick up Margo Freshwater this week. Freshwater had lived in central Ohio as Tonya McCartor after being sentenced in 1969 to 99 years then escaping a Tennessee prison.
She was returned to prison in 2002, and granted a new trial this year on appeal.
