Lawyers sum up their cases in Pa. corruption trial

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A lawyer for former state Rep. Brett Feese told jurors in government corruption trial that Feese was not part of the small group of people in the House Republican caucus who conspired to spend millions of public dollars on illegal electioneering.

Joshua Lock said the alleged conspiracy was the work of former House Speaker John Perzel and a handful of his top aides.

The 57-year-old Feese, who lives in Muncy, served as chairman of the House Republican Campaign Committee and chief counsel to the caucus during most of the period at issue.

He and co-defendant and former aide Jill Seaman are charged with theft, conspiracy, conflict of interest, hindering apprehension and obstruction.

Lawyers have said the jury of six men and six women could begin deliberations as early as Tuesday.
