Angels for Animals open today to offer adoptions

NORTH LIMA

Angels for Animals, state Route 165, will open from 4 p.m. today to midnight to offer adoptions.

The shelter is usually closed Mondays, but Angels is one of 50 shelters nationwide competing in a American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals contest. The shelters tried to save at least 300 more animals — during the months of August, September and October 2011 — than they did over the same three-month period in 2010. The shelter with the biggest increase in animals saved will win a $100,000 grant for their organization.

Apples, cider, scary movies and a bonfire are some of the activities planned this evening.
