YOUNGSTOWN

The Shop in the Gardens, housed in the Davis Education & Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek Park, will set the mood for the upcoming season with its Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and next Sunday. Shoppers will be rewarded with a 20-percent discount on all holiday merchandise.

The shop, at 123 McKinley Ave., will be decked out in holiday finery, featuring ornaments hung on an elf tree, a nature tree for those who love the outdoors, ornaments geared toward the avid gardener and wine ornaments and accessories for the wine aficionado.

Elegant holiday trees will be on display for the enjoyment of shoppers, who also can purchase the 2012 Mill Creek MetroParks calendar and holiday cards that feature local photos.

Among the potential gifts are a wide array of jewelry, purses, scarves and hats. Loads of home and holiday decor dishes and serving pieces await shoppers.

Members can attend a cocktail party from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and receive 20 percent off everything. Wine and culinary treats will be offered, and sounds of the season will fill the air. Gift-wrapping will be done free. For those who aren’t members but wish to join, applications will be available at the door.

Purchases help support Fellows Riverside Gardens and Mill Creek Park. For more information, call the gardens at 330-740-7116.

The garden is a botanical display garden open daily free of charge from dawn to dark. The Davis center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
