Discussion planned

Jewish/Christian Studies North will discuss “feasts and fests” in the Jewish, Christian, Islam and Hindu traditions as they pertain to time, calendars and families.

A session is planned Wednesday at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way with Rabbi Joseph Schonberger, who will lead the discussion on how the Jewish community looks at time.

Health day events

Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola Ave., will host a health and temperance day at 11 a.m. today with guest speaker, elder Jesus Rosa. A meal will follow the service. A stress workshop, “Come Hear about God’s Health Plan, and How It Affects Your Spiritual Life,” is planned at 4:30 p.m.

Bill Gillespie of the Creation Museum will address the free conference ”Answers in Genesis” planned this weekend at New Beginning Assembly of God Church, 3000 Market St.

Food and fellowship will begin the event at 6 p.m. today with Gillespie addressing “The Seven C’s of History/The Bible: The True History Book” at 7.

On Sunday, Gillespie will speak at 9:45 a.m. on “Building a Biblical World View;” “The Relevance of Genesis/The Key to Reclaiming the Culture” at 10:45; free luncheon at 1 p.m.; “Creation Evangelism/Why Won’t They Listen?” at 2; harvest party at 5:30; and “Dinosaurs and the Bible” at 6:30.

The event is for all ages.

Two sons of James Blackwood “Mr. Gospel Music” continue the Southern Gospel quartet, which carries on a family tradition begun in 1934.

Singer-songwriter on tap

Singer-songwriter Chris Mowery will share his music tonight at Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry in the Wedgewood Plaza, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite 1. Doors open at 5 p.m., with music to start at 6.

Admission is free. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Mowery, a youth minister at Four Mile Run Christian Church, released his debut album, “Beautiful Cross,” in June 2010 and has been working on his second record, “You Alone Are God.” He has played at a variety of venues, including the Alive Christian Music Festival, Faith Night events with Mahoning Valley Scrappers in Niles, and churches, camps and cafes in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Community members, including youths, are encouraged to participate in a Christian talent showcase/open-mic night Nov. 5. Participants are invited to sign up and share their songs, poems and skits.

Catholic Cemeteries Sunday will be observed this weekend at three cemeteries.

Prayer services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapels at Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown; Resurrection Cemetery, 300 N. Raccoon Road, Austintown; and All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland-Blackstub Road, Cortland.

Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 2045 Jacobs Road, will host a men, women and youth day revival Sunday through Friday with speakers and guest choirs. The Rev. David Moncrief Jr. is pastor, and minister Darlene Wilson is chairwoman.

Pastor Sylvia Jennings of Oak Baptist Church will speak at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Revival to begin

The Rev. Lane Loman will have revival services at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb Road, Sunday through Wednesday. Services will be at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monay through Wednesday.

The Rev. Mr.Loman, in ministry for 48 years, produces The Lights of Spiritual Guidance, a radio ministry.

Priest is on the air

The Rev. Andrew Gromm, pastor of St.Michael Orthodox Church, 127 Steel St., teaches the Gospel and church history from the ancient Eastern Christian perspective. “On Earth As In Heaven” is the name of the radio show airing at noon Saturdays on WSOM AM 600.

A Bible study is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at St. Michael and Father Gromm presents the early Christian interpretation of Scripture, which represents the original Apostolic message.
