POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:
LIBERTY
Oct. 20
Menacing: Police received a report that a 9-year-old girl was threatened as she walked home near Tuttle Drive.
Drug paraphernalia: Gloria M. Villarreal, 48, of 1656 Laurie Drive, Austintown, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and having expired license plates when, officers said, they found a suspected crack pipe during a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue.
Drugs: Authorities responding to a possible fight near Colonial Drive charged 31-year-old Dominic C. Mshar Jr., 204 Stewart St., Hubbard, with drug abuse after saying they had found two plastic wraps containing suspected marijuana. Also arrested was Trinette L. Pollard, 25, of 1756 Oak St. SW, Warren, who was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.
Oct. 21
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into and ransacked a residence in the 3200 block of Logan Way. Missing were a 52-inch flat-screen TV as well as a washing machine and dryer.
Criminal damaging: An Oakland Drive woman reported a man used a hammer to damage a door knob to her home, evidently in an effort to forcibly enter.
Criminal damaging: A hole was placed in drywall of a room at an East Liberty Street motel. Damage came to $150.
Oct. 22
Criminal damaging: Three holes were found in the drywall of a room at an East Liberty Street motel.
Theft: Three 12-volt batteries were stolen from Vacqua Industrial Services, 5925 Belmont Ave.
Oct. 23
Domestic violence: A 15-year-old Girard boy faced a charge after his mother, of Sampson Drive, alleged the teen had slammed her against a wall as she tried to get him under control.
Arrest: Police responding to a suspicious vehicle on Belmont Avenue took 38-year-old Jesse Thompson into custody. Thompson, of 101 Monroe St., Campbell, was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s passenger-side windows were broken in the 4100 block of Logan Gate Road.
Drugs: Police conducting a traffic stop near Gypsy Lane charged 27-year-old James L. Tingler Jr., 3510 Oakview Drive, Girard, with possession of a drug-abuse instrument when, they said, he had a syringe and another item common in crack-cocaine use.
Theft: About $800 worth of scrap-metal auto parts was missing from Miller Towing Inc., 4100 Belmont Ave.
Identity theft: A Marine City, Mich., woman told police her elderly parents, of Liberty, had about $2,500 missing from their accounts, in part because someone without authorization had written checks against the account.
Oct. 25
Arrest: A traffic stop near state Route 11 led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jason S. Jablonski, 3029 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with contempt of court. He also faced a charge of operating a motor vehicle with no operator’s license.
Stolen property: A Youngstown man went to a Youngstown- Hubbard Road business to inquire about an engine and other car parts someone brought in that he believed had been stolen from his residence during a break-in.
GIRARD
Oct. 23
Damage: Two Hazel Street residents discovered solar lights on their properties had been kicked over and their posts broken.
Oct. 24
Identity fraud: A Girard man found out someone had used his wife’s name to apply for insurance.
Criminal mischief: A driver on Interstate 80 told police someone threw a rock from an overpass and smashed his windshield.
Domestic violence: Police charged 25-year-old Curtis L. Redd, 1043 Kenilworth Ave., Warren, with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Redd had grabbed her hair during an argument, then punched her mouth. The woman had swelling and bleeding.
Theft: An East Liberty Street woman reported a $150 global-positioning-system device stolen from her daughter’s car.
Theft: A 25-foot tape measure and a set of keys were missing from a vehicle in the 400 block of East Liberty Street.
Oct. 25
Theft: An Illinois Avenue man learned someone had used his information to remove $100 from his account.
Theft/damage: Two cars in the 100 block of Hazel Street were found with broken windows. A wallet was taken from one of the vehicles.
HUBBARD
Oct. 19
Theft: A stereo system was taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of West Liberty Street.
Attempted fraud: Someone claiming to represent a sweepstakes company apparently tried to defraud an Elmwood Drive man.
Theft: A man reported the theft of his seventh-grade daughter’s cellphone while she was at Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Pit Stop Auto Care, 350 N. Main St.
Oct. 20
Harassment: A Church Street woman told officers she received three unwanted text messages from a man in Crawford County, Pa.
Recovered property: An employee with a Youngstown-Hubbard Road restaurant found a man’s Visa card.
Oct. 21
Fraud: A Creed Avenue woman told police her bank had asked her to fill out a fraud report.
Oct. 23
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Glod’s Muffler Tire & Radiator, 312 W. Liberty St.
Oct. 24
Criminal mischief: A Jerry Drive man reported what appeared to be bullet holes in his residence.
Oct. 25
Assault: Police responded to a report of a fight between two students at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave.
Harassment: A First Street woman said her 15-year-old daughter has been the victim of cyberbullying and unwanted text messages.
