Pastor Mason leads city church

Pastor Raymond Mason was installed Sept. 18 at Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave.

Pastor Mason has an undergraduate degree in child psychology from Howard University with an associate degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. He attended the Youngstown extension of the American Baptist Theological Seminary of Nashville and Moody Bible College.

His ministerial experience includes service as deacon, trustee and youth director at Metropolitan Baptist Church under the Rev. W. L. Harris.

Pastor Mason was licensed from Metropolitan Baptist Church and ordained at Holy Trinity Baptist Church under the Rev. E. F. Rheins. His first pastorate was the Second Baptist Church of Steubenville.

He is second vice president of Ohio Baptist State Convention and Eastern Ohio Baptist Association chairman of trustees.

Among awards he has received are Steubenville’s Impact Pastor of the Year, Alphesis — Pastor of the Year Canton/Massillon, Pastor of the Year Laymen’s Ministry of OBSC and nationally Who’s Who Among Religious leaders.

He is married to the former Joyce Dismuke, a retired vocal music teacher in three school systems and director of the College of Wooster Gospel Choir.

He is the father of four and grandfather of nine.
