Agency helps with energy bills

Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership reminds the public it is scheduling appointments for the Home Energy Assistance Program.

Potential applicants are to call 866-223-1125 for an appointment. The line is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Walk-ins at the MYCAP office, 101 E. Federal St., are for individuals who have no service.

If service is off, call the utility company, set up service and bring in the account number. For electric service, pay the $35 reconnect fee before going to the MYCAP office and take the receipt. The program begins Tuesday.

If your service is not disconnected, applications are available at various locations throughout Mahoning County. Applications may be picked up at MYCAP between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Churches, organizations or agencies who need a supply of applications are urged to call MYCAP at 330-747-7921, ext. 1128. Total household income and size determines the amount of assistance received.
