Union kindergartners entertain parents

For the first time in their school careers, the kindergartners at Union Elementary were invited enjoy the spotlight. On Sept. 30, kindergarten teachers Gina Chiaro, Tina Bonarigo and Erica Donahue hosted their kindergarten tea, and their students performed a short presentation for parents as the newest students at Union Elementary.
The kindergartners entered the Union auditorium and performed “I’m a Little Teapot,” and showed their knowledge of days and months with a “Days of the Week” tune and “The Months Macarena.”
The kindergartners shared their appreciation for their parents by reciting a short Shel Silverstein poem, exclaiming, “I know you little, I love you lots, my love for you could fill 10 pots, 15 buckets, 16 cans, three teacups and four dishpans.“
Soon after their performance, the students were free to find their parents to give them a hug and a gift, a yellow teapot craft that shared messages of love and included a real Earl Grey tea bag. Families enjoyed tea, juice, and cupcakes soon after. The Sept. 30 event was the first kindergarten tea hosted at Union.
“Principal Masucci suggested the event and we’re glad to have started a new tradition for our kindergartners,” explained Chiaro. “The performance today showed a lot of what the kids are learning. We’re already discovering many new words and the kindergartners are catching on very quickly.”
