Sentenced in robbery
WARREN
Timothy L. Finnigan, 44, of Niles pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison for the Aug. 13 robbery of the First Place Bank branch in Howland.
Finnigan entered the plea Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court and received his sentence from Judge John M. Stuard.
Howland police identified Finnigan as a suspect in the robbery a few hours after it was committed. Finnigan entered the bank at 8226 E. Market St., and passed a note to a teller saying, “We need money to feed the kids, give me your money.” He also told the teller he was armed, but no weapon was visible.
Resources Festival planned for today

Some 50 participating agencies will staff tables and displays at a Fall Resources Festival planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at St. Demetrios Community Center, 3223 Atlantic St. NE.
Sponsors are Trumbull County Assessment Committee, Family and Children First Council and Trumbull County Children Services.
Participants will be mental-health and drug- and alcohol-service providers and other areas such as housing, education, health care, food assistance, legal services and child care.
Land bank to have special meeting
YOUNGSTOWN
The Board of Directors of Mahoning County Land Reutilization Corp. (land bank) will meet at noon Monday in the large conference room in the county commissioners’ office, 21 W. Boardman St.
This is a special meeting to discuss the proposed agreement between the county land bank, commissioners and the prosecutor’s office.

Student assaulted
WARREN
An 11-year-old student at the Willard K-8 school building was treated at St. Joseph Health Center for possible injuries to his face and foot after two other students assaulted him in the school locker room before gym class.
The victim said one boy swung him around, causing the foot injury, and another one kicked him on the side of the face. They were in the sixth and eighth grades.
Two other boys — one in sixth grade and one in eighth grade — just watched.
The boy’s father said there have been three previous bullying incidents this year, and the school advised him to contact police.
Work session set at West Branch
BELOIT
The West Branch school board will have a work session at 6 p.m. today followed by a regular meeting at 7:30. Both will be at the high school.
Burglary probed
BOARDMAN
Police are investigating a burglary at residence in the 7000 block of East Huntington Drive. The owner told police that between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, someone smashed out the first-floor dining-room window and stole nearly $500 in cash and a few collectible sports medals, according to reports.
