Pa. dad jailed for machete attack on son

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on assault charges for allegedly attacking his son with a machete during an argument over money.

Police say 42-year-old Robert Gregory, of Canonsburg, accused his son Lorenzo of taking money and then attacked him with the large knife about 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say Gregory then left the house and bought a six-pack of beer from a bar where patrons alerted police because he was covered in blood. Police say they pulled over Gregory a short time later.

Lorenzo Gregory, who police say is in his 20s, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for his injuries, which police say are not life-threatening.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Robert Gregory, who remained in the Washington County Jail today unable to post $100,000 bail.
