Nashville protestors issued misdemeanor citations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Twenty-nine Wall Street protesters in Nashville have been issued misdemeanor citations for criminal trespassing after being arrested by state troopers overnight.

State troopers began moving into the state Legislative Plaza a little after 3 a.m. to remove the protesters under a newly enacted curfew for the grounds.

The state’s new rules specifically banned “overnight occupancy” at the public space and require permits and use fees for rallies.

After a night court judge refused to sign the warrants for lack of probable cause, the Tennessee Highway Patrol issued the citations.

A total of 75 state troopers were involved in the arrests.
