LOUIE TODAY: Alzheimer's researcher, Traficant filmmaker, zombie protest

Louie, Vindy.com's news radio partner, will continue his conversation with neurologist Marwan Sabbagh, founding director of the Cleo Roberts Center for Clinical Research.

The Center has conducted more than 50 Clinical trials and studies on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, as well as prostate cancer and fibromyalgia since it opened in 2000.

Dr. Sabbagh also is associate director of the Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease Core Center, a clinical instructor in the Sun Health St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Geriatric Fellowship Program, a visiting scientist in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and a staff physician at Boswell Memorial Hospital where he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Also, Eric Murphy will return to the show to update the progress with his film: "Traficant: The Congressman of Crimetown," and members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will explain their protest today in front of West Fork Roadhouse in Liberty. Members and supporters in full zombie costumes will be describing the pain endured by cows, pigs and chickens when they are dismembered alive at slaughterhouses without any painkillers.

The organization's protest is aimed at bringing public awareness to the fact that

while all animals have the capacity to feel pain and terror just as humans do, cows have their horns ripped from their skulls and are castrated without painkillers before they're slaughtered, and many are dismembered while still alive; chickens and turkeys have their throats cut while still conscious, and piglets are castrated and have their tails cut off without being given any painkillers.
