Some of the first free candies of the Halloween season were offered by the staff at Mill Creek Park on Oct. 15, when the park offered a fright-free, family-friendly Halloween celebration for local residents at the Judge Morley Pavilion.

Kids, parents and family pets visited the event dressed in their best and most creative Halloween costumes, preparing for the event’s costume contest and wowing other guests.

Once the groups arrived at the pavilion, each child received a ticket for candy and then were welcomed to explore the park, share laughs with Jocko the clown and take photos among hay bales, pumpkins, spider webs and corn stalks.

Mill Creek Park staff, dressed in their best costumes, offered fun for guests with a silly mummy wrap contest, where kids and adults were wrapped in head to toe in toilet paper.

Parents and grandparents became stars of the show during the pumpkin pie eating contest. The adults had to eat an entire slice of pie without using their hands, with each slice topped with a dollop of whipped cream that made the activity extra fun and messy. However, for many young guests, the event just wet their appetites for all the fun of the real Halloween holiday.

“I love all the candy. This is my first candy of the season, so I’m very excited,” shared guest Kylie Peters.

“I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun during Halloween,” added Kylie’s brother, Elijah.
