Doubles tennis team qualifies for state

Canfield High School senior Gabrielle Brant and junior Allison Pavlansky won the Division I district doubles title and qualified for last wek’s state tennis tournament.
They defeated Mitsuki Fukamachi and Jamie Vizelman of Mayfield, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), in their district semifinal match. In the subsequent championship round, they beat Michelle Djohan and Julia Dunbar of Westlake, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. The state tournament was held Oct. 21 at the Ohio State University. The duo lost 6-3, 4-6, 1-6 to Upper Arlington’s Elaine Cloern and Audrey Berger from Upper Arlington in first-round action.
The girls tennis team is coached by Rob Stephens. His assistant is Frank Sachire.
