It was Mom vs. Daughter on the soccer field Oct. 5 during halftime of the Canfield High School girls soccer game.
Six members of the Canfield Soccer Club’s U-11 girls competitive traveling team went head-to-head against their moms in a penalty kick challenge.
Alexis and Sherry Bernat, Britney and Sheri Young, Theodora and Marianna Sakkas, Fiona and Anne Lally, Lauren and Abby Slanker and Ashley and Bill Story shot penalty kicks against each other. Bill Story is head coach of the U-11 team.
First, the daughter had her chance to score a goal against her mom, with the mom playing goalie. Then the roles were reversed and the mother had a chance to kick against her daughter, with each girl trying to block the shot.
After three kicks, the score was tied 2-2, with three more penalty shots to go. In the end, the daughters prevailed by one, with a final score of 5-4.
