Together with YSU re:CREATE, the Green Team and the Canfield Township Recycling Program, the Rotary Club of Canfield held its Poorest of the Poor Clothing Drive at Canfield Village Middle School Oct. 22.

During the semi-annual event, the Canfield Rotary collected used clothing donations to benefit families who are in desperate need or have experienced a natural disaster.

According to Tom Christoff, Rotary clothing drive chairman, the club was also asked to support the Veterans Family Rehabilitation Organization.

“This year, we will support the Veterans Family Rehabilitation Organization and provide donated items to local veterans and their families,” Christoff said.

Members of YSU re:CREATE, the Green Team and the Canfield Township Recycling Program were on hand to collect household items, which were then donated to Goodwill and the Rescue Mission.

“We are here to help keep usable items out of landfills and help our neighbors in need,” said Sarah Ellis, manager of YSU re:CREATE. “Any amount collected today is a good amount.”

Volunteers from the Canfield High School Interact Club were also helping accept donations. During the clothing drive, Rotarians were also available to pick up bags and boxes from houses within the city and township limits.
