Hungry caterpillars, bees, monkeys and Dr. Seuss characters all made appearances at the Canfield library’s baby brilliant story time Wednesday.
Canfield librarian Jane Adams shared spooky Halloween stories with a large group of guests, focusing on the literacy skill of sharing stories.
“Halloween is a wonderful time to tell stories, like those of haunted houses and ghosts. A great way to discover stories is to create a costume, ask your little ones to help you tell a story of your character,” explained Adams.
The librarian tried on a safari explorer hat, pirate hat, and Hawaiian lei to help kids start imagining stories and their characters.
Adams read a book with spooky sound effects and shared the tale “Biscuit Goes to the Pumpkin Patch.” The group sang “If You’re Happy and You Know It...” and inserted ghosts, bats, cats and skeletons into the mix for Halloween.
Not everyone attended the event in costume, so Adams let all of her guests share their costume ideas with the crowd. According to a few Canfield youngsters, the community may be seeing a Minnie Mouse, Darth Vader and Elmo costume roaming around town Monday night.
