Testimony ends in Ohio teacher sex trial

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A judge says he expects to issue a verdict shortly after hearing closing arguments in the trial of a former southwest Ohio high school teacher accused of having sex with students.

Prosecutors and lawyers for Stacy Schuler were expected to present final arguments today to Judge Robert Peeler of Warren County Common Pleas Court.

Earlier this week, five former Mason High School students testified they had sexual encounters with Schuler at her Springboro home.

The 33-year-old Schuler had been a teacher and athletic trainer at the school north of Cincinnati since 2000 before resigning in February after being charged with sexual battery.

She has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her lawyers argue she had medical and psychological issues and doesn’t remember the alleged incidents, and that students took advantage of her.
