Timothy L. Finnigan, 44, of Niles, pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison for the Aug. 13 robbery of the First Place Bank branch in Howland.

Finnigan entered the plea Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court and received his sentence from Judge John M. Stuard.

Howland police identified Finnigan as a suspect in the robbery a few hours after it was committed. Finnigan entered the bank, at 8226 E. Market St., and passed a note to a teller saying, “We need money to feed the kids, give me your money.” He also told the teller he was armed, but no weapon was visible.
