Country-music ‘Angels’ to open at Salem theater

Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., will present “Honky Tonk Angels,” a musical by Ted Swindley, (author of “Always … Patsy Cline”) for two weekends beginning Friday.

The story focuses on three women who meet on a Greyhound bus bound for Nashville to pursue their dream as country-music singers. Each is facing a crossroads in their life. After sharing their struggles with men, they decide to join forces.

Directors Gary and Cheryl Kekel and cast members Julie Benner, Amanda Frost and Carly Magnuson bring classic and contemporary country music to life with a five-piece band in this humorous and touching family musical.
