Costume giveaway planned by station, police department

Staff report

WARREN

Radio station WRBP-FM, JAMZ 101.9, and the Warren Police Department have teamed up to distribute Halloween costumes and candy for Warren-area children.

Special assistance with costumes, candy and safety is being provided by the Youngstown Chapter of the Afro Dawgs Motorcycle Club.

With a tight economy, JAMZ 101.9 and WPD realized there are many neighborhoods where children can’t afford Halloween costumes and/or residents can’t afford to participate in distributing Halloween candy, according to a press release.

There will be a costume giveaway for children from preschool through sixth grade from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Community Center, 760 Main St. SW.

In addition to costume giveaways, there will be a special appearance by McGruff, identification packs for children and Halloween safety tips.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, the WPD and the JAMZ van will distribute Halloween candy in the underprivileged areas of Warren from the Warren police officers and from the van by on-air personalities T-Luv and Jammin’Janay.
