Clue: An interactive, electronic version of America’s favorite quiz show.
Answer: What is “Classroom Jeopardy!”?
Jimmy McGuire, a member of the television game show’s traveling Clue Crew, visited Youngstown Christian School on Wednesday to play the game’s classroom version with eighth-graders in Brittany Zetts’ class.
He gave one of the games to the class.
“I work on what I think is the best game show,” McGuire told students.
He appears in video clues on the popular television quiz show hosted by Alex Trebek.
McGuire said that in 11 years, the Clue Crew has traveled to 30 countries, 250 cities and most states in the U.S.
To try out the classroom version of the game, the 24 eighth-graders were divided into three teams: the Flying Eagles, the Awesome Eagles and Team Super Awesome, or TSA for short.
The categories were Happy Halloween, Technology, the Guinness Book of World Records, What’s the Story, Happy Holidays and Leading Toward Independence.
The last category was selected by Zetts to align with what the class is studying.
TSA jumped to an early lead as each student took a turn at the game controller, signaling in when they knew the answer.
Happy Halloween was the most popular category. “Carve a scary face on a pumpkin and put a candle inside” read the clue.
“What is a jack-o’- lantern?” the Awesome Eagles quickly answered.
Zetts said that the game can be used in various classroom disciplines.
“I can program the game to have any questions I want,” she said.
She’ll use it for history, although it may be used by other teachers in other subject areas.
“Classroom Jeopardy!” hooks up to any television, and a whole school can share one unit.
