U.S. Sen. Casey urges FEMA to speed up aid to Pa.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Sen. Bob Casey is urging the federal government to speed up storm-recovery aid to Pennsylvanians still reeling from flood damage as colder weather closes in.

Casey wrote to the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency today to ask that Pennsylvania be given priority over other states that do not have the same cold winter climate.

Casey says many people affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee worry that they won’t be able to finish rebuilding before winter hits. He says estimates put the damage at $200 million or more.

The National Weather Service says overnight temperatures in eastern Pennsylvania in the coming days will dip into the 30s, with temperatures below freezing in some isolated spots. Daytime highs are expected to be in the 40s.
