Weekend OVI blitz nets 7 arrests in Boardman


BOARDMAN — A weekend blitz by the Mahoning County OVI Task Force resulted in seven arrests.

The blitz was between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. in Boardman, and consisted of 13 officers from participating police agencies, as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The operation led to 54 traffic stops and seven arrests, including five for operating a vehicle while impaired, one for possession of marijuana and one on a Boardman Township warrant, according to a news release.

Officers also cited six others for various violations.

The OVI Task Force is a federally funded program and will continue blitzes and checkpoints at various locations in Mahoning County through 2012.
