Belle Vista between McCollum Road and Price Road will be closed for three weeks for replacement and repair of waterlines. Local detours will be posted. The closing took place Monday.

Candidates forum

The League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown will have a candidates forum for those running for Boardman trustee and school board at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Boardman High School, 7410 Glenwood Ave.

Indictments

YOUNGSTOWN

A federal grand jury has indicted two western Pennsylvania residents on charges of being felons in possession of firearms and interstate transportation of stolen property.

Billy Harris Gray Jr., 44, of Enon Valley, and Troy Dennis Hockenberry, 29, of Ellwood City, possessed seven shotguns and three rifles, all stolen, and illegally transported them from Pennsylvania to Ohio on Sept. 1, the indictment says.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Youngstown police under Operation VGRIP (Violence Gun Reduction and Interdiction Program). It is being prosecuted by David M. Toepfer, the Youngstown-based assistant U.S. Attorney.

Public meeting

BOARDMAN

The faith-based organizing group ACTION will convene its 10th annual public forum at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Catholic Church, 5235 South Ave. The 90-minute meeting, organized around the theme “We are Better Together,” will focus on three issues of public concern — education, employment and community life.

ACTION — Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods — is a faith-based community organizing group that focuses on a range of social issues, including crime prevention, education, immigration and health and wellness.

The speakers will be the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin III, pastor of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Youngstown, and ACTION’s president; the Rev. Joseph Fata, pastor of St. Luke Church; and the Rev. Edward Noga, pastor of St. Patrick Church, Youngstown.
