Dana orchestra concert at Powers

The Dana Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of John Wilcox, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Monday in Powers Auditorium, downtown, that will showcase opera, song and ballet.

The program will open with Rossini’s “Overture to La Cenerentola (Cinderella).” It will be followed by Strauss’ “Four Last Songs,” featuring soprano soloist Misook Yun. It’s an epic work based on poems by Hermann Hesse and Joseph von Eichendorff.

After intermission, ballet interludes from Verdi’s opera “I Vespri Siciliani” will be performed. The concert will conclude with the Overture to “I Vespri Siciliani,” a dramatic Verdi masterpiece.
