Spill forces detour on Western Reserve Rd.

Western Reserve Road near Interstate 680 will be closed today after 900 gallons of driveway sealant spilled on it.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it didn’t know when the road, between South Avenue and the I-680 exit ramp, would reopen, but expects it to be sometime this afternoon.

The patrol, the Mahoning County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Mahoning County Engineer’s Department were on the scene working to clean the road.

The spill happened about 5 p.m. Saturday when one truck carrying sealant ran into the back of another truck transporting sealant.

There were no injuries.
