CAPUA, ITALY

Making their home in Siena, Italy, after a honeymoon in Toronto, Washington, D.C., and Ischia Island, Italy, are Carlo Alfonso Garofalo of Sharpsville, Pa., and Immacolata De Rosa of Siena, who were married June 27 in Capua, Italy.

Monsignor Domenico Di Salvia solemnized the 4 p.m. ceremony in the Church of the Santissima Annunziata for the daughter of Salvatore De Rosa and Diana La Marra of Capua, and the son of Alfonso Garofalo of Rome and Madelina “Mela” Francesca (Pompa) Garofalo of Sharpsville. A reception followed at Villa Samuel in Pontelatone.

The couple also renewed their vows Aug. 21 at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown, with the Rev. Jason Glover of Gannon University officiating. A reception followed.

The bride, who is retaining her maiden name, is administrative assistant to the president and chairman of the board of Fondazione Monte dei Paschi in Siena. She earned a degree in Far Eastern culture from the University of Oriental Studies in Naples, Italy.

The groom is pursuing a doctorate in political and social sciences at the University of Pisa after earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Mercyhurst College and a master’s degree in international relations from the Rome campus of St. John’s University of Jamica, N.Y.

The bride wore a white strapless organza gown featuring a pleated bodice and three silk roses at the waist.

Italian custom calls for two witnesses each for the bride and groom. Hers were her brother, Francesco De Rosa, and cousin, Oriana De Rosa. His were his brother, Michael A. Garofalo, and cousin, Frances M. Foltz.

Also attending the bride as a bridesmaid was her cousin, Donatella De Rosa, and acting as groomsman was John Kawecki III.
